“Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) Wi-Fi passwords at the Courts are now going to be changing every six months.

The first change is November 19, 2023, and it is expected to affect Corrections, Police, lawyers, and any others who use the Ministry of Justice’s “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) Wi-Fi scheme.

Regularly changing passwords will improve security for the Ministry and its Wi-Fi users.

Impact should be minimal. BYOD users will need to reconnect to the Wi-Fi using the new password when they re-enter the court building. Devices with 4G and 5G might not notice and revert to mobile data. Some of the newer devices that are managed by the Ministry will be automatically updated.

If BYOD users arrive at Court after 19 November and do not automatically re-connect to GNET_BYOD, they will need to contact Court staff, or the Court Site Manager to update their password.
